Summary

Bruce Dorn has enjoyed a rich and varied career as a Director, Cameraman, and Photographer, his formal training is in Design. Bruce spent four years as an Associate Professor of Design at Indiana University where he taught advanced courses in both Photography and Design. As a Mechanical Designer, Bruce has earned acclaim as a builder of custom motorcycles and racing cars. His efforts have been featured in mainstream enthusiast magazines such as Hot Bike and Hot Rod. Insiders credit Bruce with the inspiration of the hugely popular Harley Davidson Fat Boy that appeared shortly after one of his clients, Willie G. Davidson, spent hours pouring over the details of one of Bruce’s pet projects. Bruce who is also a Canon Explorer of Light has also designed accessories for using HDSLRs for video. 0:21.3	One of the things that's really been interesting over the last several years has been the introduction of video into DSLR cameras.
0:29.0	Whether you love it or have absolutely no interest in it, there's no denying that it's making a real difference in the lives of a lot of working professional photographers.
0:38.1	One of the big questions a lot of editorial and commercial photographers are being asked now is
0:42.8	do-do video. And increasingly the answer needs to be yes. So photographers like today's guest,
0:50.3	Bruce Dorn, have fully embraced this capability of the camera, not just because of the
0:54.7	creative outlets it provides, but also because it provides them another revenue source for
1:00.4	their business.
1:01.6	But you hear that despite the obvious challenges that are involved in using an HDSLR to
1:06.8	capture video, it's a wonderful way of a photographer with a keen eye to be able to express
1:13.0	themselves visually as well as helping them to tell a story.
1:17.6	To help serve this end, Bruce Dorn has designed and is now distributing and selling his
1:22.7	own camera rig, which helps you to use the cameras like the 5D Mark 3 or the Nikon D700 to produce
1:29.8	video and be much more in control of the camera when you're doing so.
1:34.0	And unlike a lot of the other camera rigs that are very complex and burdensome, this kit
1:39.0	fits into your camera bag.
1:41.1	And I've been using it for the last year, and it's made all the difference in my ability
1:46.2	to be able to use my camera to produce video and get accurate focus when I need it.
