Emilio Banuelos has worked as an editorial photographer and consultant for newspapers in Mexico, Panama and the United States. His documentary work earned him fellowships from the Poynter Institute, The Marty Forscher Fellowship for Humanistic Photography and an award from EnFoco Inc. This is the Body and X, and welcome to another episode of the Candid Frame.

Now, one of the things that I teach in my classes and my workshops is the art and the craft of editing.

And I'm not talking about bringing your images into Photoshop and applying a bunch of curves and levels adjustments. I'm talking about taking a body of work and trying to make sense of it.

Trying to make a collection of images either for a portfolio or for an essay or for a slideshow and being able to take all those hundreds,

if not thousands of images and win them down into a manageable number of photographs.

And it's one of the skills as a photographer that's not often talked about or much less

but also for the people who have the opportunity to view it.
