Unfictional is KCRW's program of stories and original documentaries,

and March 20th marks the beginning of spring a time when everyone

comes out after a long cold winter and celebrates new beginnings. The season of

renewal is a perfect chance for many to find new romance. But of course the

shadow behind any new happy loving couple is the debris left behind from the old

relationship, the spontaneous gift that they once gave you, a piece of clothing, a toothbrush.

These things remind you of the bitterness of an angry breakup,

but they also hold memories of the happy times all mixed together with the bad.

That toothbrush can have a complicated story behind it.
