I'm Alexandra Rogge, and my guest today was camped out at the courthouse in Brooklyn for much of the FIFA trial in December.

He's worked through many of the legal documents associated with the trial,

and they reveal an extraordinary

tale of mobster-like behavior by some of sports's highest officials. He'll be known to many of you

as a journalist, academic, and consultant, and one of the world's leading experts on match-fixing

and corruption in international sports. This is his second podcast with us, so Declan Hill.

And I think it's very interesting for obviously the sports fans, but also the non-sports fans.

into business practices right through the Americas.

I think it's a really, really interesting trial for all kinds of reasons.

I appreciate you stepping up to do this on short notice as well,

because the trial dragged on and on, but then came to a conclusion very suddenly.

Why did you go ahead and set the scene for us?
