In 2016, Nigerian President Buhari was in London for an international anti-bribery summit

when Prime Minister David Cameron was famously overheard calling Nigeria, quote,

fantastically corrupt. How do you respond to that? And how did the people of Nigeria respond to that?

What I would say is that I would not characterize Nigeria as fantastically corrupt,

as the prime minister said. But certainly Nigeria has challenges with corruption.

But the good thing is that the present administration of the president,

President Muammu Bwari, has won campaigned and won the election,

partly on the promise to fight corruption.

And since he's been in power, its government has committed

and dedicated the law enforcement agencies in Nigeria

towards fighting corruption.

So why I would not use the word fantastically

to describe the corruption situation in Nigeria,

I would say, yeah, the prime minister is not far from

the truth to say that we've had challenges with corruption in Nigeria.
