Maeva grew up in a Perth, Australia. Haircare runs in her blood - in the 90’s her mother opened the first African braiding salon, attached to the back of an Italian restaurant. Of course, she sent a lot of time there, answering the phone and helping her mother import American products for textured hair. After attending university, Maeva worked in marketing at L’Oréal, followed by an internship at Procter & Gamble in Singapore. It was at this point, two important things happened; she realized all these beauty companies weren’t marketing to women that looked like her, and secondly, while traveling her hair relaxer exploded, leaking product all over her clothes, and leaving her to deal with the natural texture of her hair for really the first time in her adult life. It was a sign. Here’s the story of how Maeva launched the award winning Bread Beauty Supply.
