Michael Swanson showed signs that he was different from early on. His mother Kathy had already

had two children and they acted very

differently to Michael. He liked to push people's buttons. He liked to cause disruption. And when he was

just a young child, he would run around his daycare, disturbing the other kids who were already

asleep in their nap time. he would make sure they were all

awake and it was only then that he would go to his napping place and sleep soundly.

And Michael's mum, Cathy, speaks a lot about how from early on, she just knew that Michael

was different, that he liked to push people's buttons, and his main goal

was disruption. She knew that she had to be on high alert at all times around him. Now, eventually,

Kathy ended up having to travel for work. This was quite new for her, and Michael really struggled

with it. He told her he did not want her to go. He did not want her to be away from him.

But even so, Kathy had to work. She needed the income. And so she would go off and travel

as part of her work commitments. And one time, while she was there, her phone rang. She answered the

phone and it was her husband Bob back at home. He said that Michael had gotten into some kind of incident.

Now, he didn't have all of the details. He said that was because Michael wasn't massively

clear in what had happened. But the basic facts were that Michael had come home, he'd gotten a

bloody nose, and he told his dad that basically someone, a little kid,
