Once upon a time, there lived a young boy who tended his father's sheep near a dark forest, not far from the village.

Every day, he roused the sheep from their resting place and took them to the pasture to graze.

But life became very dull.

And the boy was bored.

He tried to find different ways to amuse himself.

He would talk to his dog or play his shepherd's pipe.

But these activities soon grew tiresome as well. And the boy began to daydream more often than not one day as he sat watching the sheep fill their bellies with deliciously green grass

he thought about what he should do should he see a wolf.

Then he devised a plan to amuse himself.

His father had warned him,

If you see a wolf, you must call for help,

the villagers will drive the wolf away.

You must not let it attack the flock, but they are all we have.
