1:07.9	Around that same time, I came across a book that had a big impact upon me and I'd like to share it with you because it's just
1:15.5	coming back in print from a Mayus road. The title of it is Philippe de la Trinité. What is Redemption?
1:23.9	I'm excited because we got to reprint this book
1:26.8	through Emaeus Road, the publishing arm of the St Paul Center.
1:30.8	I'm doubly excited because I got to write the forward to the book where I have a
1:34.8	chance to explain why this book is so important and what a momentous effect that it had
1:40.4	on me when I was still a Protestant,
1:42.9	asking myself the question, why is it
1:45.9	that Christ's suffering saves us?
1:48.4	There was one version that I used to embrace
1:50.5	as a Protestant, which has influenced many Catholics. It's called
1:53.9	penal substitution that God the father took out his wrath on the son for about three
1:59.3	hours there on Good Friday. That is a common view but it's a misunderstanding. It's a
2:04.8	distortion. It's a counterfeit gospel. It was reading Philippe de la Trinité's
2:09.5	book What is Redemption that cleared it up for me.
