It's 10.25 a.m. on August 2nd, 1980. Explosives hidden in an unattended suitcase detonate in an air-condition

waiting room at the Bologna train station, which at the time was full of people. People seeking

relief from the heat of the day. It was August after all.

The explosion collapses the roof of the waiting room. It destroys the main building and hit the Ancona Kiyaso train, which was waiting on the first platform.

The station was full of travelers that Saturday. And the city was utterly unprepared for a major disaster.

Many of the passerbyes and travelers who were at the train station that day provided first aid to victims and helped rescue people who were buried under the rubble.

In all, 85 people were killed and over 200 grievously wounded.

And the reason for the attack and who carried it out is something that's been debated to this day.
