We all would like to think that we know where we are going and how to get there.

But at every stage in life, we need divine direction. God has promised to guide us if we simply follow.

The fifth and final section of Psalms are referred to as Deuteronomy Psalms because they remind

us to keep returning to the truth of God's Word.

Join us as we study them with Scott Pauli today. Psalm 127 and Psalm 128 are twin Psalms. They have a very common tone and theme because both of these Psalms, songs of degrees, deal with the family.

They get very close to home because they show how God works in a life and in a family where

the Lord is in his rightful place. We've studied Psalm 127, so look with me today at Psalm 128.

It begins this way, Blessed, Isn't that a great start?

What a good place to begin.

We want the blessing.

Repeatedly in the Psalms, God brings us back to this principle.

You remember in Psalm 1, verse 1, blessed is the man that walketh not in the council of the ungodly.

And really, all through the Psalms,

God is showing us the way to blessing. There is a way to God's blessing. There is a blessed life.

And in Psalm 128, we learn one of the great open secrets to the blessed life. It says,

Blessed is everyone that feareth the Lord, that walketh in his ways.

So God connects the blessing of God to the fear of God.

Typically, we would not think of fear and blessing as being connected,

but God says they are because this fear is not the fear of man,

it's not the fear of circumstances, it's not the fear of danger.

It is a healthy fear. It's a holy fear. It is the fear of God and it's not just fear that God would hurt me.

It is rather a fear that I would hurt him. It is it is the fear of God that is closely akin to my love for the Lord. I love the Lord so much I don't want to grieve him.
