I live in California currently and I'm a transparent where my child came out and is lovingly supported

by our family, by our community and especially in his school.

We are active duty military and we are actually Florida residents, the idea that our home

state and where we could get orders to at any moment where he would be not legally allowed

or encouraged to be himself openly and honestly is quite terrified.

I'm concerned about the new Florida Bill that affects LGBT Q discussion in classes and

schools. My children are very sensitive to that and they are very upset about the bill.

They feel already put upon in danger from other students who are empowered to discriminate

against them because of their choices and because of their orientation.

Schools continue to serve as battlegrounds for America's culture wars.

Lawmakers in at least seven states are introducing bills that would impact LGBTQ youth.

But the one that's garnered the most attention is Florida's so-called Don't Say Gay Bill.

It would ban classroom discussion about sexual orientation and gender identity and allow

parents to sue if a school violates the rule.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has already signaled his support.

We've seen instances of students being told by different folks in school, oh you know

you don't worry, don't pick your gender yet, do all this other stuff, they won't tell

the parents about these discussions that are happening.

That is entirely inappropriate.

While the White House has denounced it for being quote hateful.

It's cruel, it's harmful and you know it is certainly something that is not helping

you know young people who are members of the LGBTQI plus community who are already vulnerable,
