The Disney Lullaby playlist. Listen now. Hello everybody and welcome to the Total Soccer show. My name is Taylor Rockwell, and it's Tuesday, which means it's time to talk some Major League Soccer. We have between five and nine games remaining in the regular season, depending on who you are. And there are plenty of narratives to keep an eye on as we move closer to the end of the campaign. So on today's episode, we're taking a look back at the weekend that was, and then spending a good chunk of time focusing on the most compelling storylines and narratives that we will be following for the next few weeks. To do so, I'm joined by a man who has, to my knowledge, never angrily pursued Obed Vargas after the full-time whistle, at least at time of recording. It's Joe Lowry. Joe, can you confirm? Yeah, I'm trying to think, you know, we've gotten into some scuffles, Obed and I over the years, you know, mostly over which state that starts with A is the best. I'm team Arizona. Obviously, he's team Alaska. Understandable difference of opinion there. But we've never actually, I think, come to blows. Sergio Bousquet's, it's gone down as a punch that he throws at Obit Vargas. And by no means am I trying to defend the guy. That might be the weakest punch I've ever seen in my life from Bousquet's.

It's just soft.

And it was a soft performance in Miami.

So I guess it's fitting.

Do you expect Bousquet's to be able to throw a heavy punch?

It's great point.

He doesn't really strike me as like a big striker.

He seems more like a more like a guy that would take to ballroom dancing than boxing.

You know what I mean? A little bit. Like you look at him and you see how he plays. Like, I don't know, the hips, something about it. It just doesn't feel like he's a brawler at his core, to be honest. The panel is nodding with us as well as a fellow who is officially going to be suspended for the 2026 League's Cup campaign, which probably won't

actually happen again until 2027. It's a pretty harsh punishment, Jeff Ruter. But if you can't do

the time, then you're probably an aging Miami player who won't be there two seasons for now.

Yeah, I mean, like, look, it's also, I'm paying a little homage to Clint Dempsey in the U.S.

Open Cup. And I've just decided if you don't want to play in a side competition, if you're getting too old for this crap, then take yourself out of the next years before it even starts. It's just like it's a veterans play. It's one of those things where when you're younger, you just have to understand how the game works and eventually you see it and pull it up. I will say, by the way, it's very funny. We had our usual kind of like bubbly back and forth the three of us before we started recording and catching up. How was a weekend? How was a long weekend? All this sort of stuff. And then we pulled up the video of the fight and watched. And just the silence that fell over all of us, there's just something about getting three dudes to watch a fight that like apparently changes the tone of this podcast.

So I'm glad to hear that we are so back into our usual banter.

I mean, you got to break down a scrum, right?

You got to know what's going on.

I feel like a brawl requires multiple haymakers being thrown, not just a lot of, like, grappling and shoving and then bumping and then more grappling.
