Summary

Poison punch. It’s toxic. It’s everywhere. And it’s making us all sick. It’s the diets, the weight loss teas and programs, workouts, and superfood powders that say they’re selling health. Or the supplements, creams, prescriptions, makeups, treatments, and procedures that promise to make you look younger and yield you, unconditional love. And it’s all the apps, pop-ups, fads, people, retreats, and goop that cost a fortune but guarantee a better version of you. Poison punch is the 70+ billion dollar industry that profits off you looking in the mirror and thinking, “I’m fat, old, tired, and ugly”.

Poison punch is everything you're being told and sold to fix problems that (spoiler alert!) don’t actually exist.

There’s no way in hell the diet and beauty industries are going anywhere. Poison punch is here to stay. And while we might not be able to rid the world of poison punch, we can change our relationship to it. Join hosts Kelly Roberts and Kayla Reynolds M.S. every week as they figure out what’s poison punch, what punch has traces of poison in it, and what’s actually true.

In today's Poison Punch segment, Kayla and I are talking about the mistakes we made when we first started working to unlearn and challenge diet culture.

0:20.6

because all I do is take COVID tests now because everyone I know has COVID all the time,

0:26.4

constantly. And I'm in a constant state of, I've been exposed again. And here's the thing,

0:33.0

I feel like we were just talking about this you and I. We were really, our, our tails of COVID

0:38.5

over Christmas and good time. Hey, do you have anything you'd like to share with the class?

0:43.5

Yeah, everything that we know about COVID is wrong. And I don't want to go into Joe Rogan

0:49.9

Daredevil right now just kidding our Canadian followers. Yes, I'm Canadian. So we, we love the Canadians

1:00.0

over here. But yeah, so Kelly and I talked about our adventures with COVID back in December when

1:06.7

literally everyone we know got Omicron. And then about six weeks later and precisely three and

1:14.0

a half weeks after I got boosted, I got hit with a gnarly, a gnarly like I was literally out.

1:23.6

Like I could not function. And like the beginning of it, I was actually terrified. Like my breathing

1:30.4

was awful. I was coughing literally 24 seven. And went to the doctor was very low on oxygen,

1:40.0

gave me like medication to clear my airway or like open the airway, gave me an asthma pump. It was

1:47.4

not fun, slightly traumatic experience, particularly after like we talked about, right? Like it was like

1:53.6

sniffles for us. And like everyone else that we know that got Omicron was very much like

2:01.6

not too too impacted by it. Like I don't know anyone who's been hit this hard in a very

2:07.2

long time. So that for me was just like, this is spooky, spooky, very real. How did I get it

2:16.9

at peak immunity or where I should have been like at peak immunity, right? Like two weeks after.

2:24.2

So it's a little bit scary. But here I am. So if I have a little cough or two throughout the

2:32.2

episode, bear with me. But for the most part, I am still like my lungs are, I would say day to

2:38.9

day at 75 to 80% of their normal. And then when I try to exercise, they're at about like 50 to 60
