All right, welcome back to Velshi. It's Saturday, June 7th. I want to start this hour with a question.

If you were upset with how your representative voted on something and you wanted to get in touch with them, how would you do it?

Maybe you'd call the phone number listed on their website, although you'd only get a staffer, and there's no guarantee they'd pass your message along to the boss. You could

attend a town hall and hope that they showed up to it. If you got the time, you could stop by their

district office and speak to someone there. And if you're really angry, you could pick it or protest

or even go to D.C. and surprise them on their own turf. Yet and still, there's no guarantee you actually

reach them. That's the trade-off of living in a representative democracy. The agora can only be so crowded.

We vote for representatives, and they go and represent us, and our ability to hold them accountable

comes every few years in elections. But for Elon Musk, those rules do

do not apply. Musk spent nearly $300 million in the 2024 election season with a majority of it

aimed at helping Trump's campaign. He also donated to Republican congressional candidates.

His super PAC flooded the television markets with ads. He jetted across the country to campaign for Trump.

He weaponized his social media platform for the right.

And then when Trump did in fact get elected, Elon Musk won too.

He was front and center along with a cadre of other billionaires at the inauguration.

He attended cabinet meetings.

He held court in the Oval Office right alongside the president.

Trump gave Musk an entire made-up government agency, Doge, which gave him access to troves of

sensitive data, to agencies that regulate his businesses, as well as agencies with which he

holds billions of dollars in contracts. But according to new reporting from the New York Times, Elon Musk's

mega feud with the president began to take shape as Musk, like Icarus, flew too close to the sun.
