So this is the anniversary of D-Day and of course the anniversary of the Six-Day War.

I think it is 55 years since the Six-Day War. I am John Pothoor. It's the editor of Commentary

Magazine with me as always executive editor, a Greenwald Hyabe and associate editor,

no Rothman Hynoah. So much to talk about. So very quickly we had what the press instantly

described as a mass shooting in Philadelphia over the weekend. This is not funny. It's terrible,

South Street, a very popular nightlife spot in Philadelphia, you know, open air bars, people

strolling on the streets, a wash and gunfire at 1130 Saturday night. Mass shooting says the

say the media. Another mass shooting in America. So this was not a mass shooting. This was a

this was gunfighting following a physical altercation between two or three people.

One of the people shot, one of the people who died was one of the shooters. Another got away from

the cops and there were two dead people who were innocent bystanders and some wounded. But the

point here is that it's not like the shooters were working together like the Columbine kids

and were deliberately shooting into the crowd to kill as many people as possible. This was a

some kind of gang fight or some version of a you know shootout that ended up having horrible

ancillary consequences. And once again, we have the media conflating things that cannot be conflated

and and changing the story on what is actually the reason for the spike in gun violence in the

United States, which isn't these horrible black swan mass shooting events where somebody decides

to go somewhere and kill defenseless people for the purpose of racking up a death toll. It is

the spike in violence among the violent. And we can discuss why there was a spike in violence

among the very violent in the United States and how much bail reform and small lower you know
