Blues.

I was recently at a cocktail party and I received a question that I had never really thought

about before.

The person can ask and it was far younger than me in his early 20s which made it all

the more excusable in my opinion.

Simply and honestly he looked to me and asked, so when did you start drinking actual

cocktails instead of just jacking coax or vodka sodas?

It was at that moment that it dawned on me that I had never even thought about this

before.

While it's not a question that holds a lot of weight, it's certainly a defining moment

in anyone's life.

And as I started to think about it, I started thinking about what goes along with the

decision to stop drinking two ingredient cocktails like the ones that I just mentioned

in favor of drinking more advanced cocktails like an old-fashioned or a martini.

After some deliberation, we finally settled on somewhere between the ages of 27 and 29.

In that same breath, I think there's another question that would yield the same answer.

That question being, when did you stop going to bars until 2am?

Because for me, when I stopped doing that, I certainly stopped ordering those two ingredient

cocktails, rum and coax, whiskey sodas, vodka tonics, tequila sodas.

The list really goes on and on.

These days when I sit down at a bar, there are really only a few options on my mind.
