Summary

One of the most popular episodes of The Chalene Show from this past year was a 2-parter — 1 with Chalene and 1 with Bret — on Keeping Passion and Intimacy Alive. So, we thought it would be fun to take the best of both parts and combine them into one show! This way, you get both Chalene’s and Bret’s very unique perspectives in one easy listen! We think you’ll find it super useful, honest and enjoyable! And a little bit sexy.

Hey, Shaline. This is Hannah Brown from Michigan. I recently run through some older podcasts to listen to because they have such useful and valuable information.

0:09.0

So therefore I came across your ADD episodes and I kept catching myself pausing and clicking back to replay to my husband.

0:16.0

And we couldn't help but laugh and talk about how humorously relatable it all was for us.

0:21.0

It allowed me to have a better understanding of where my husband is coming from and what a gift that is really in any relationship just having that understanding and but the enjoy through those unexpected things.

0:32.0

Hey there. Welcome to this edition of the Shalene show. Car Smart Friday edition. Recorded from the front seat of my vehicle.

1:16.0

Thanks for tuning in. Today is going to be an interesting episode. I hope but I'm assuming that this is not one for the kids. Let's just make that assumption. All right off to the show.

1:28.0

Welcome to the Shalene show. Shalene is a New York Times best selling author celebrity fitness trainer and obsessed with helping you live your dream life.

1:37.0

So my plan is I'm going to record mine and then I'm going to ask Brett to record his and I'm not going to know what he's going to say and he's not going to know what I'm going to say and we're not going to know what the other person said until we listen to the podcast together.

1:51.0

So I thought I would just share like my thoughts on this topic and then I'm excited to hear what his thoughts are on this topic. I think I know but you know sometimes you don't.

2:02.0

If I had to start out with one thing I really thought about this a lot and I kind of want to start off with one that Shalene does remarkably well and does it in the right times because I think if you do this first one too much it almost becomes white noise and that's complimenting.

2:20.0

Completing your partner your spouse on some things that they do amazing it might be the way they look it might be the way they took care of something but I mean a great compliment goes so far and it just drives you so much closer to your spouse partner and Shalene does an amazing job with this in like all areas like she'll compliment me on something that I might have done for work that's kind of goes unnoticed like you know something that's like invisible to everybody else.

2:49.0

But she knows that she wouldn't want to do it and you know I just muscled through it and got it done and it's just stuff that she's like I don't want to do that but he's doing that for us and her family and she periodically you know sends me a message or just tells me verbally or handwritten note or card or what have you just like all the things that she appreciates that I do you know for us for the family for the business and it's a compliment and so that's huge.

3:19.0

The next thing that I would say is really important is constant compliments but not fake compliments like real compliments like I can't think of a day that I've walked down the stairs that my husband didn't compliment something and it's weird it's like the real compliments ladies you know sometimes you'll be like you know what I am having a good hair day and you think that to yourself right or you think this is a cute thing.

3:49.0

It's a cute outfit whatever it is like you think that little thought right well no matter what that thought is it's crazy out I can walk down the stairs and Brett will go well that's a really cute outfit and I think oh my gosh the he means this he didn't compliment my hair he complimented the thing that I feel really good about and that makes me feel beautiful and it's really important that both of you feel attractive you have to feel attractive you have to feel like your partner finds you attractive.

4:19.0

In order for you to feel attractive and that takes effort it takes communication it takes noticing and not just thinking about saying something.

4:33.0

She'll compliment me on physical things too she'll tell me how we'll keep this PG but she'll compliment me on things that I'm doing like if I'm working really hard in the gym or if I'm taking care of myself or if I'm doing extra little things like going to

4:48.0

infrared or getting some therapy done or just whatever she'll compliment me on like wow this part of your body is looking really good I know you've been working really hard on this or she'll say things like Brett I find you more sexy now than I ever have you know just like things like that I mean just when it touches your heart that's when you should

5:07.0

definitely compliment your spouse partner.
