| 1:02.9 | And tonight's topic is anxiety. High anxiety. I don't think that's the anxiety we're going for. No, no. This is best of anxiety. And everybody has anxiety. I mean, you're not getting around that. |
| 1:07.5 | Exactly. Some people have it less than others. People in show business generally have high levels of anxiety. That's true. That's true. Usually, you know, usually about nothing. Well, it's hard not to kind of form your own stories in your own mind about what's happening out here. Right. Why you didn't book the job? In Hollywood and what you did wrong. Right. Because you try to pinpoint it so you can have some control over it because the bottom line is you don't have control. |
| 1:31.0 | You don't have any control. book the job. In Hollywood and what you did wrong. Right. Why? Because you try to pinpoint it so you can |
| 1:28.0 | have some control over it because the bottom line is you don't have control. You don't have any control |
| 1:31.7 | of it. And no matter how successful you might be, there's always like somebody more successful than you. |
| 1:38.2 | Yeah. And they always will be. Yeah, exactly. All right. So we have two storytellers tonight. |
| 1:43.3 | The first is Brian Finkelstein. |
| 1:45.4 | I love this guy. Oh, Brian Finkelstein is fantastic. He's a writer and he's a performer. And he hosts a lot of the Moth Story Slams here in Los Angeles. The Moth story slams. He performs in the Moth. He's quite frankly, he's awesome. He may be the finest human being I've ever met. I wouldn't go that far at all. |
| 2:00.6 | But he's a really good guy. |
| 2:01.8 | He's an excellent storyteller. |
| 2:03.1 | He does a lot of teaching as well. He teaches in Australia a lot for some reason. Yeah, because they can't prosecute him there. They love him down under. He's committed so many crimes in the United States. And he has a great story about having a panic attack at Gelson's, which is a supermarket here in |
| 2:19.3 | Los Angeles. It's a high end supermarket. You'll hear, you'll hear just, you know, compared to what other |
| 2:24.2 | stores, what Gelsons is. And a panic attack is something that's, you know, the anxiety has been boosted to |
| 2:29.9 | another level. Yes. It's basically feeling as if you are literally in danger of being killed |
| 2:36.9 | while sitting on your couch. It's like the panic. The terror, that is so terrifying. Yeah, |
| 2:43.4 | it's a panic that is absolutely baseless. There's one thing to be like, I'm a little, |
| 2:48.9 | I'm a little nervous about this. And it's like, there's a reason to be nervous. Like, I'm about to go skiing for the first time. That's not a panic attack. A panic attack comes out of nowhere, and it has nothing to do with anything actually around you. It's entirely in your own brain chemistry. And that's a, it's a chemical thing. You don't have control over it, right? |
