Let's start leveling up your marketing knowledge with

0:14.0

your instructors Neil Patel and Eric Sue.

0:20.1

Welcome to another episode of Marketing School. I'm Eric Sue and I'm Neil Patel. And today we're going to talk about why we think the best marketers are actually the most entrepreneurial.

0:31.0

So when I started learning marketing, I read all the forums. I first started out on, you know, reading all the SEO forums. I started reading the gray hat forums, the black hat forms, just to get a sense of how all the different tactics work together.

0:44.0

And I thought what it was all about in terms of being a good marketer was to constantly learn the

0:48.3

latest tactics and be the one that's always implementing the tactics.

0:52.0

And what I learned over the years is that sure you could

0:53.9

get pretty good doing that but at a certain point like you have to keep up over and

0:58.3

over and over and then it's really hard to do that especially when you have other

1:01.9

responsibilities that pop up, where eventually

1:04.4

you're not going to be the best marketer overall for the long term.

1:07.0

So what I'm thinking, I mean like the couple of groups that we've done, like the growth accelerator

1:10.8

that Neil and I do, or some of the founders retreats that I do with

1:13.7

other entrepreneurs, what I found was that a lot of these people originally started out as

1:18.2

marketers but they transition more towards an entrepreneurial mindset and that's what we're going to talk about on this

1:23.9

podcast but Neil I wanted to first get your thought on that because that's how I feel but

1:27.4

that doesn't necessarily mean how you feel. Yeah in my opinion I don't know if the

1:30.5

best marketers are the most entrepreneurial. I would say the best

1:34.1

markers in my opinion tend to be the ones that are the most creative. A lot of them

1:38.6

are also entrepreneurs. I know a ton of amazing marketers who aren't

1:42.1

entrepreneurs and they're just super creative.
