versus 24 and 25. This passage tells us how to be the best kind of son or daughter.

Not only does it explain to us what that is and the blessing it is for our parents,

but it also tells us the mindset we should have. Let's read it. It says the Father of the righteous

will greatly rejoice. He who fathers a wise son will be glad in him. Let your Father and Mother

be glad. Let her who bore you rejoice. Now obviously Solomon is focusing on this from a Father's

point of view and he's essentially saying to his son to whom he's writing these Proverbs,

if you grow up to be a righteous young man, I am going to be so happy about that. I will be so

glad if you demonstrate wisdom in your life and if you develop the kind of life that shows a

young man who makes good decisions and who makes wise decisions that honor God and move his life

forward. And then in verse 25, he modifies what he's saying to make it an emmonishment or an

exhortation toward the Son. He says, let your Father and Mother be glad. Let her who bore you rejoice.

So he's saying, son, make us proud. Make us happy. Do these things that I'm hoping you will do.
