Hey, deserving listeners. It's just me today. I thought I would read a patron email. This is the

0:05.6

Psychology in Seattle podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Kirk Honda. I'm a professor and a therapist.

0:12.4

This is an email from patron Meg. She writes, hello, psych in Seattle friends. I discovered your

0:18.8

podcast a couple of months ago and I love it and have been happily binge listening and I've been

0:25.6

learning a ton. Also, bouncing the lay person and professional perspectives off of each other

0:31.4

really helps round the information out. Umberto is awesome and I love the random solutions he comes

0:37.3

up with on the fly and Paulette's witty writer sense of humor is a beautiful addition. Just jumping

0:45.1

in here. They have been very busy lately. That's probably why you haven't heard much from them on

0:50.8

the podcast. Umberto is very busy with travel actually and Paulette is very busy with work and

it will change going on with the email here to everyone else who puts time and energy into the

1:12.0

podcast. You are much appreciated. I also wanted to thank Odani for her candor in the suicide and

1:18.2

depression episodes. Some of the things in my head clicked pretty strongly with some of the things

1:23.7

in her head and it's nice to feel like I'm not the only penguin on the island. Not the only penguin

1:30.4

on the island like that. Dr. Honda, I'm a bit in awe of anyone who can spend their day immersed in

1:36.2

the enigma of a family. An individual's mental health is fascinating but the thought of trying to

1:42.0

understand all the facets of family and nudge them towards some semblance of health seems overwhelming.

1:49.2

Yeah, just chiming in here. Yeah, it is overwhelming frankly. I mean individuals are to some

1:54.4

extent overwhelming but families are particularly overwhelming. We just had an open house at the

2:00.1

university in which prospective students came and asked questions of me to decide whether or not

2:07.6

they want to come to the program. And something that I often and reminded of as I'm explaining

2:15.3

why I became a family therapist, why I became a married family therapist is I'll say first I'll say
