Summary

This story is perfect for BEDTIME. It's a little bit shorter, not a WHOLE LOT happens, and it is somewhat proven to deepen sleep (based on measurements using the sleep monitoring machine I just happen to store in my studio at all times). If you LOVE this story, please SHARE IT with all raccoons you come across on during late night walks in the woods, all deer wearing roller skates (you will have to shout because they move real quick, people), and YOUR FRIENDS. Many listeners around the world have learned about the podcast from a friend who loves it. And if you happen to have an Apple device, leave a review in Apple Podcasts! If your tiny person wants to share a story they've written, please send photos or recordings of it to rhea@littlestoriestinypeople.com. I LOVE to see their artwork, stories, and anything else they'd like to share. BIG THANKS to the listeners who provided sound effects used in the story: BEN, CALEB, LUKE, RIVER, and ANAIS LOU! Thank you to MORGAN for helping me with the reminder at the beginning of this episode!!! You can find the LSFTP picture books, Little Hedgehog Goes to School and Little Fox Can't Wait to Dream, by visiting https://www.littlestoriestinypeople.com/books Little Stories Premium is available now! This is Ria. Welcome to Little Stories for Tiny People.

Okay, so I do have a guest today, but it's a slightly different situation for my typical

0:19.2

guest scenario. My guest, a raccoon named Jamila, is already asleep. I know, I know, this

0:28.4

makes it kind of difficult for her to listen to the story and give me her feedback, but

0:34.1

that's not what I'm after. Our story today is perfect for bedtime. So I wanted to test

0:42.5

its sleep-deepening abilities. I've hooked up Jamila to a sleep monitoring machine. Yes,

0:51.5

I just happen to have one of those. It sits on a shelf in my studio right next to my snowshoes

0:57.3

and my 3D umbrella printer. Yeah, I can just go to my studio and print a new umbrella whenever

1:04.2

I want. It's really cool. They're not super flexible. Oh, where were we? Right, Jamila,

1:13.4

sleep monitoring. Let me put it this way. Jamila is currently at a two. That means she's

1:20.6

asleep, but just very lightly. At the end of the story, my goal is to have her at a 10.

1:27.6

She put it in the way people's terms, which I don't need, but you might. 10 is that magical

1:36.2

intersection between deep sleep and happy dreams. Do you think I can do it? I hope so. I'm

1:45.0

certainly going to try. Oh, she looks so peaceful. Although her tail is still flicking around

1:52.3

a bit, so let's get started to keep her from waking up. Our story is called The Bedtime

Socks. Take it away, Morgan. Remember, there are no pictures. You have to imagine the

2:08.8

pictures in your mind. You can imagine them however you want. Okay, here we go.

Pablo was a raccoon. Some of his favorite hobbies were slinking, creeping around, and startling

2:32.9

human people when they took late-night walks in the woods. It was really funny. Their

2:39.3

eyes would get all big and they'd say something like, oh, look, there's a raccoon. Well,

2:45.7

maybe you had to be there to get it. Anyway, more than anything, Pablo enjoyed rooting

through those big boxy bins. Human people dragged to the street each week. Pablo was supposed
