This is the greatest hour to follow Jesus.

All right, take your Bibles to Matthew chapter 5.

Let's continue with the beatitudes.

I touched on Jesus being seated and speaking.

So Matthew 5, verse 1 says,

And seeing the multitude, he went up on a mountain, and when he was seated,

his disciples came to him. So last week we talked about the difference between Jesus and the

world today. The peace of Jesus, the fact that he seated, the fact that he is not anxious, the fact that Jesus

is not stressed, the fact that he is not worried, that the Lord himself in his enthroning,

in his seating, in that posture, it speaks so many things.

Again, Jesus teaches the beatitudes from a mountain.

Moses receives the law on the top of Mount Sinai.

So I believe, and other theologians would tell you also,

that the fact that Jesus is here on the Mount of Beatitudes

is saying something, that here is a new law,

a higher, a better covenant. This is a more glorious covenant. This is the law of my people. This is the Magna Carta, the Constitution of my people.

It's the Magna Carta, the Constitution of the Christian.

And something that has concerned me over the years is the fact that there are thousands, if not millions of Christians,

who do not know the beatitudes.

Yet we know so much. And my concern is that the ways, the perspectives, the agenda, the strategies of the world

have found their way into the church and replaced the basic

teachings of Jesus. That's a problem in the church, and it's a problem the Lord can fix.
