Hello and welcome to the K-EXP Runcast. I am John Richards, host of the Runcast, host of the morning show,

and I live at K-E-X-P. I also live out on the trails and the streets that I find myself running on,

and I am so happy to host this Runcast again. I hope you find it inspiring and a companion to your training, to your races, or just your

movement that's keeping you healthy.

And before we get started today, I wanted to start this season off with a reminder to everyone,

just how much women are going through on the trails, on the roads. Women clearly don't need the

reminder they face this daily, but us men do. From the shouts and disrespect to the violence

and danger a woman faces,

it is up to all of us, not just to be aware, but also be an ally and be vocal that none of us

will stand for this. The amount of preparation and precautions a female identifying runner has to face

compared to me going outside and going for a run where I don't have

to worry about my safety at that level is astronomical and something we have to remember. This is not

the runner's fault. This is the people causing the fear and the violence fault. So I'm asking men,

be an ally, get educated. No one deserves to be harassed or experience violence simply because they
