We have to be honest as gardeners and I suppose would be beekeepers that one of the reasons

a lot of us get interested in these other aspects of home production is for that result

that you get in the kitchen myself with chickens of course all sorts of great benefits in the

garden but come on I want those eggs let's just be honest here and it's the same with

beekeeping a lot of us probably get into it for the allure of just having the honey

would you say that's pretty accurate Hillary yeah I think there's definitely people who

get into beekeeping because they want honey one thing about honey is like it's it's one

of the it's like one of the most faked foods that we have it's like second to all of

oil I think so people who know about that want to get into beekeeping so they can make sure

they're getting you know the real honey and not just like a corn syrup yeah that was that

sort of bog on my mind when I heard that I think it was maybe a couple years ago I heard

there was like a rash of like counterfeit honey that was coming in from overseas that you

couldn't tell wasn't honey because it was literally sold as honey right it's not like

it's had like cane syrup or something I mean it's like a huge problem in the industry

because all this fake honey is coming in from out of the country and getting sold like

bull honey to producers you know just like to resellers in the US and it's it's labeled

as honey you know it's sometimes it might even say organic honey I mean they did like the

food safety network did a test where they tested all these different honey's they tested

like 15 honey's from just like whatever grocery store and out of the 15 like zero of them were

real honey and then they tested natural food stores and out of like the seven that they tested

three of them weren't even real honey and then it's like the five of them like that were real

honey you just don't know like they weren't they probably weren't really organic but who knows
