Good evening, children.

It's Granny MacDuff, ready with a story.

So make yourselves comfy, and I'll begin. Once upon a time, there lived a badger, a squash and an owl.

They were all neighbours.

The badger lived in his set or his house under a large tree.

The squash lived in the garden next to the tree and the owl lived on a

branch in the tree. Although they lived within a breath of one another, they never really spoke.

The badger kept to himself, for he did not like company.

The squash, although in a house all to herself, was quite chatty.

She spoke mostly to herself, and what lovely conversations she did have.

And the owl, being nocturnal, never had any friends who would be up for a visit in the night.

And so they all kept to themselves and went about their business, tolerating one another, but remaining at arm's length.

One day, the badger passed by a family of badgers.

They were all enjoying a feast and making merry.

How happy they seemed.

Grub, I should consider myself lucky, for I need share with no one.

Most of all, I do not waste my time on such silliness as small talk.
