This is the movement of the Holy Family. Today is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary when she was

taken up body and soul into heaven from Jerusalem. The assumption is not recorded in Scripture,

but we know it is true because the apostles were present at the home of Mary in Jerusalem

when her earthly life came to an end. Then they carried her body and placed it in a tomb near Gisemone,

and the apostles were witnesses to her bodily assumption into heaven. This rosary was prayed and recorded in the

Church of the Assumption in Jerusalem as we entered the empty tomb of Mary to place our candles

and consecrate our lives to her.

Welcome to our Rosary Meditation. We are at the place of the Assumption of Mary. We are at the

empty tomb of Mary in Jerusalem at the foot of the Mount of Olives, where from the earliest days of the

church, the assumption of Mary, body and soul into heaven has been celebrated on August 15th.

So let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for. Now a document called the Transituse Marrié,

written by a disciple of John the Apostle, relates that all of the apostles were recalled to Jerusalem

by the Holy Spirit to be with Mary before and during her glorious assumption.

St. Germanus of Constantinople in a homily given in the year 720, right here, where we stand, states that Mary's assumption into heaven was witnessed by

the apostles who could then confirm the truth with their authority. He writes this,

Your departure did not lack witnesses. Heaven tells the glory of those who ran to meet you then. Earth presents the truth about it.

The clouds cry out, the honor they paid you, and the angels tell of the offering of gifts that was made to you.
