Hi everyone, and welcome to the bubble hour where real people tell real stories of addiction and recovery.

I'm your host, Dean McCarthy.

I write the blog Unpickled.

I've been telling my story there for over eight years now about life after alcohol.

I've been writing about it since my very first day of

sobriety. I tell my story there and I invite you to share your stories here. And today, I have to

tell you that things didn't quite work out as planned and my guest wasn't able to make the time

that we had allotted. But since I sort of had the time on my calendar anyway, and I'm going on vacation for two weeks here,

and I know there's not going to be any shows while I'm gone this time, sorry guys, unless I take my phone on my kayak again and record something for you out on the water.

But anyway, I wanted to make sure that I got an episode up for you before I take off for a little bit of a break.

So here's what we did.

sent in things that they wanted to ask my thoughts on and I will answer those questions.

So here's my intention as I do this. I'm not an expert and I think it's super bad for people in recovery, even recovery advocates to allow themselves to be sort of celebrity in any way. And I think that for me to assume that you care what I think puts me into the

dangers out there. So I want to state my intention as I do this, that I have the best

intentions and the right mindset as we go into this today. So like every guest on the bubble
