For over a century

The Nodler Gallery was one of New York City's most prestigious art galleries.

The Nodler Gallery promoted the artwork of some of the world's most influential painters over the years,

including Vermeer, Dekooning, and Kandinsky, to name a few.

Having survived the Civil War, both World Wars and 9-11, the gallery was seemingly indestructible.

And yet, in 2011, the Nodler Gallery closed its doors for good.

So what does it take to bring down one of the most reputable institutions in the art world?

Starting as a receptionist, Friedman made a name for herself as a dealer, ultimately becoming the director of the Nodler Gallery.

One day, a supposed art dealer by the name of Glefira Rosales, an unknown in the art world,

approached Anne Friedman with a painting she couldn't refuse.
