| 0:45.8 | You're actually restricting your airflow about 50% when you breathe through your nose |
| 0:49.9 | versus the mouth. |
| 0:51.7 | But there's some very interesting things that occur when you practice nose breathing. |
| 0:57.8 | You would think you would not get enough air, but actually you do get more oxygen delivered |
| 1:03.2 | to your tissues than if you were to breathe through your mouth. |
| 1:07.2 | Why is that? |
| 1:08.2 | Well, there's several things. |
| 1:09.8 | Number one, when you breathe through your nose, the sinuses act as a humidifier. |
| 1:14.7 | So they definitely help you to moisten the air as it goes into your lungs. |
| 1:19.8 | Also, that can actually protect the lungs because if you're breathing cold, dry air, that |
| 1:24.7 | can really irritate the lungs and actually increase the risk of inflammation in your lungs. |
| 1:30.1 | Secondly, your nose acts as a filter to filter out particles that can end up in your lung |
