and biblical theology at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He's the author of many books, including

the Kingdom of God and the Glory of the Cross. Our topic today is a new book of his entitled

The Ascension of Christ, recovering a neglected doctrine. Welcome, Professor Shrinner.

Hey, thanks so much for having me, Mark. It's good to be here. Strange word in the title there.

Why is this doctrine neglected?

Yeah. Well, one of the things as I continued to think about the Ascension,

and it really started early on in my studies of biblical studies and just going through the Bible.

I found there's not a lot of books on the ascension. And there's not a lot of

sermons on the ascension in some traditions, probably more of the low church tradition. If you're

in a higher church tradition, you might celebrate Ascension Sunday, which I think is probably a good
