Professor Paquette. Nice to be here. Thank you, Mark. How did the Hamilton Institute begin?

A very interesting story. In a sense, it began with a conversation that I had with a member of

Hamilton's Board of Trustees by the name of Carl Manges, who was a Wall

Street guy, but very much interested in history. And a conversation took place in the early

2000s about how Hamilton College, which was named of Alexander Hamilton, should do more

in recognition of its prestigious namesake.

And so we held a conference out of which came a volume,

the many faces of Alexander Hamilton.

And as we were considering what more to do,

a couple of scandals rocked Hamilton College, basically back to back.
