This might be the most important interview I've ever done.

Now that might sound grandiose, but if you take the argument of my guest seriously, it would

be difficult to come to any other conclusion. Nate Sores is the director of the Machine

Intelligence Research Institute and the author, along with Eliasat Yudkowski, of the New York Times

bestseller, If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies, Why Superhuman AI Would Kill Us All.

When we've covered this topic on the show before, it's often divided our audience,

so some people take it very seriously, and are outraged that AI tech executives are

taking us to the edge of a civilizational precipice others think we've lost the

plot and just drunk the AI hype call aid for my part I don't feel like I'm

qualified enough to judge whether if anyone builds super intelligent AI we

really will all die it It's just above my

pay grade. What I do feel confident saying, though, is this. It's an argument that should be

taken incredibly seriously. And that's especially because the Nobel Prize winners who invented

AI technology are on record saying that, yes, it really could

kill us all. Now, for the first half of this interview, me and Nate talk through the argument

in the book. In the second part, we discuss the politics of AI and what Nate makes of AI

executives like Dario Amadeh and his recent meeting with Bernie Sanders.
