Hello and welcome to the agenda from Blood Red. I'm Guy Clark and our Liverpool correspondent Paul

Gorsd alongside me as we get set to talk about a decision that is certainly polarized

opinion as Liverpool have

confirmed that some of their staff have been put on furlow during the

coronavirus crisis. Gorsley we might as well get straight into it. We'll read the Liverpool statement. We'll talk

about other Premier League clubs who have already taken steps to do exactly the same thing. This

isn't just something that Liverpool FC have done but initially I just wanted to get your

thoughts on the decision.

Well the first thing we should say is the staff are being paid 100%.

I think a little bit of that was lost in the immediate outcry of condemnation.

So essentially, they're literally using the Fair Low scheme that the government has established to pay 80% of the staff and then they're topping up the extra 20%.

So no Liverpool employee is really being disadvantaged by this. So I think that needs to be clear

up first and foremost. So I think that's a big thing but saying that is it's still not

a good move by the club. I mean you can't rate I mean we talk so much about our great Liverpool as a team and we've spoken in depth of what they've done off the pitch during the coronavirus pandemic and now they've taken so many steps to help a community in crisis.

But this is a backward step, to say the very least, that a bit of a

P.R disaster, everything you want to say about it

it probably rings through to be using a scheme

that's essentially being put in place

to help struggling businesses at a time of unprecedented crisis.

Liverpool are not one of those businesses let's be honest.
