| 1:14.0 | Yes, so students were out of school for two days last week, 97 Detroit Public Schools shut down. |
| 1:21.0 | And something like 46,000 students not in school because teachers started calling in sick after the district announced that it would become insolvent as of June 30th. |
| 1:33.0 | And about two thirds of the teachers in Detroit opt to have their pay spread out over the entire year instead of receiving it all during the school year and not making any money during the summer. |
| 1:44.0 | So the district by saying it would be insolvent as of June 30th was essentially saying we're not going to pay you for time that you've already worked. |
| 1:52.0 | And this isn't the first issue that Detroit teachers have been up against this year. |
| 1:58.0 | The schools in Detroit, many of them are absolutely dilapidated. |
