Hey, B. And today, the two of us are doing something a little bit different from a regular

death panel episode. So I'm going to start us off a little bit differently because today

we're doing a special death panel history to celebrate the anniversary of the Americans with

Disabilities Act. Because today, the day that we're recording this episode, is Wednesday July 26th, 2023. And 33 years ago,

on July 26th, the 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law by President

George H.W. Bush in front of 3,000 disabled people on the South Lawn of the White House in

Washington, D.C. And as he signed the bill, President Bush declared, quote, let the shameful wall of exclusion

finally come tumbling down.

And then President Bush turned to disability activist Evan Kemp and kissed him on the top

of the head and waved to the crowd.

And that one is just my favorite odd paternalistic detail that I had to throw in

for trivia's sake. Yikes. Yes. Big yikes. There's a lot about this history that listener says
