John chapter 10

verse 10

very familiar portion of

scripture

but you know it's the familiar ones sometimes

that get by you if you're not careful

because you think you already know what they say

and if you're not careful you're not open and looking for light as much as you

ought to.

In John 1010,

it says Jesus is talking here, of course.

Jesus said,

the thief cometh not,

but for to steal and to kill and to destroy.

Now, who's he talking about when he says the thief?

Well, he's talking about the enemy, but you know, he's also talking about anyone influenced by the enemy.

If you look at the whole context, he talked about those people that had come before him

and that were not the shepherd of the sheep and came up some other way than through the door.

The enemy, of course, is the thief.

He is the liar. He is the destroyer.

He's called a destroyer more than once in the New Testament.

But also, human beings that yield to him take on his characteristics.
