0:11.0

That sounds like your jam. Let's get started.

0:14.0

What's up everybody? Happy Monday to you? Glad you're here. I don't know how your weekend went. Mine was interesting.

0:24.0

I sober January so trying to I'm trying to use my Saturdays and Sundays rather than going to most brunch to actually do something physical and work off some of this some of this love weight I put on after COVID.

0:39.0

And so my wife and I have been going on hikes every Saturday and the first one that we did the first weekend was a nice little four mileer what they would call like a moderate to hard climb.

0:53.0

And it took us about I don't know maybe two and a half hours to do the four mile hike and we felt great. We thought this is awesome. This is the perfect tempo and we said let's challenge ourselves this weekend.

1:06.0

And so I got online and I found this beautiful hike absolutely stunning and it was about an hour outside of the city.

1:16.0

So we got up early, jumped to the car, drove all the way out there, got parked onto the trail by 930 ish something like that.

1:24.0

And as you started on this hike, you really felt like you were in the middle of nowhere. You couldn't see civilization. The rock faces were, you know, like when volcano, I'm not even sure if it's volcanic rock because I'm not a, I'm not a, what do you call it?

1:40.0

Genealogy is not right. Geologist. I'm not a geologist. I'm not a geologist. Apparently I'm not educated either. I'm not a geologist. And so I don't know but that rocks had split like it was volcanic rock that had had water inside of it. And it just it looked like like the Mars landscape except it had this beautiful green moss and high desert grass and stuff growing on the side of these hills.

2:08.0

And as we started to walk, there were rivers that were small rivers and little washouts that had water running through them, which is something that you don't expect to see in the desert of Arizona.

2:19.0

Just to completely, people do not realize how beautiful Arizona is if you don't spend time here and you don't actually get out and see the, the countryside.

2:28.0

And so we had it all the way up and it was, it was a challenging hike up and by the time we got all the way to the top, it opens up so we were looking back the whole time as we're going up the side of this hill.

2:39.0

And then as you come to the top, you see there's a whole other valley down the other side and it is, I've got pictures. I'll post them to the, to the network.

2:47.0

Absolutely stunning.

2:49.0

Well, the reason that I selected this particular hike is about three miles in and three miles back. So it was a little more challenging. It was considered hard rather than moderate to hard according to all trails.

3:00.0

And so I, this one had a loop. So it wasn't straight up and straight back. It was a loop. We would get to see the backside as well. And I had done a little bit of research and read some of the comments on the all trails app.

3:12.0

And what they said was, hey, make sure you go left when you start, don't start on the right side because the right side has some really high cliff faces that you basically have to scale.

3:24.0

And going down, it's not that bad. But if you're trying to go up it, it's, it's abusive. And so I was like, no worries. Got this thing. So we went up the left side, we get all the way up and I'm talking to my wife.

3:36.0

We had a little lunch while we were at the top of the hill. And then we said, yeah, let's, let's try the, let's try the back half, even though we don't know what that is and we don't know what to expect.

3:44.0

We're feeling pretty good. And I think we can, I think we can master that had the dog with us.

3:49.0

The next two hours was the most miserable two hours that I have spent that I can remember in a long time. I felt like I was back in the Marines and we were on a force march.
