As the Highlander said many years ago, there can be only one.

The lawmakers there overturned a 72-year prohibition on pumping your own gas at gas stations,

making New Jersey the only U.S. state that still requires an attendant to fill up your tank.

I will never forget the first time I went to pump my own gas in New Jersey.

I was living in Pennsylvania, and I was going to New Jersey every morning to Trenton to hop on the train to go into Manhattan every morning.

There's a gas station right there by the train station.

I always had low prices, and it's right there.

You just fill it up, you don't worry about it.

I pulled in, I hopped out of my car, and I'm telling you, New Jersey gas SWAT team jumped out of the gas station,

came running around saying, what are you doing?

I was lucky, I wasn't a shot.

In a rush.

No pumping, no pumping, no pumping, so you get kinda used to it.

After awhile it's like, well, you gotta pull in there because I don't have to pump it.

You just stay in your car, and they pump it for you.

You either just fill it up or you hand them a $20 bill or you hand them your card and say,

20 bucks or 30 bucks and they put it on the card for you. They take your cash

They put it in your car and you drive away. It's kind of nice

You get kind of used to it. So Oregon. Sorry about it. You're gonna have to get out and pump your own gas now
