this is recode media with peter kofka and that's me and this is the last episode of Recode Media.

1:13.1

It's the last one. That's it. Now, like I said last week, the show isn't really ending. It's got to head to a new home with a new name earlier next year. And if you want to hear it then, all you got to do is nothing. Just make sure you're subscribed to this feed on Apple or Spotify, where we get your podcast, and we will come to you. But like I also said last week, I've been making this show at Vox Media since February 2016. That's almost eight full years. It's hundreds of episodes, hundreds of guests. And it also means I've worked with lots of awesome people over the years. I wish I could thank every one of them by name. I can't do that, but I do want to shout out the people who are making the show with me right now. That's Jolie Myers, Travis Larchuk, and Jolani Carter, who has been putting up with me for the longest time. Thank you, Jolani. If you're lucky, you get to work with great people, and I have been lucky for a long time.

And while I'm thanking people, I want to thank you, the people who listen to this podcast and tell other people to listen to this podcast. And you tell me when I'm doing well, you also tell me when I can do better. But like I always say, I love making the show, and I love hearing from you. Let's keep it going next year. And now it's probably going to be the last chat I ever record out of the Vox Media Studios.

for coming on Recode Media, the last Recode Media of all time. We can get nostalgic later. Well, this will be a nostalgic episode. I want to talk to you about the year in media, which is not yet done, but it's done for me. A lot happened. We've had you on a couple times to talk about it. And I kind of want to talk about what we've learned from the year. So let's just start off with the big thing, the strike. We spent five months. We spent more than five months talking about the strike because we spent a lot of time in advance talking about the strike. The strike's still technically not over. I think it might be by the time this podcast comes out. but it looks like the sags, the actress strike will be over.

3:30.2

What? still technically not over. I think it might be by the time this podcast comes out, but it looks like the SAGs, the actor strike will be over. What do we learn from the strike?

3:37.1

And we is a big collective question, right? Is it it can be us as consumers, us as an industry,

3:41.5

could be the studios, could be the talent. Is there one central takeaway for you?
