We're going through Kevin Keegan's autobiography, My Life as an Electric Mouse,

which is available in all goods shops and on the Kindle, etc., etc.

And probably at car boot sales.

He is the England manager at the moment. He's not happy because he's not allowed

to bring in Arthur Cox as his assistant because Arthur Cox has deemed to be too old by Howard

Wilkinson, who is also quite old himself. So just following on from that,

Kev then has a bit of a whinge

because he wanted to bring in a couple of people

that helped scout opposition teams.

And he mentions this in his first meeting

as England manager,

but the official in charge of the scouting department

cut me off mid-sentence to tell me the setup was fine as it was. He was obviously put out by what I was suggesting

and his entire tone was, Kevin, we'll tell you which people are going to watch games, not the other

way round. Again, I let it go, but I was taken aback by his brusque manner and I asked Howard

afterwards what he had made of it.
