We've reached the stage where Kevin Keegan is, he's ensconced Newcastle as the manager, things are looking good, he's training with the club at a bit of Park University, and fans come from Cornwall to watch it's all normal

it's all fine um kev says we shared the facilities with the university and it always makes me

smile to think of david ginole's arrival in newcastle and the first friend he made he does

Before long they were happily chatting away.

David wanted to know what Newcastle was like and if there were any nice restaurants.

And in the end, they arranged a meet for a meal that evening.

I'm not sure when the penny dropped,

and David realised this wasn't another Newcastle player,

or when the student cottoned onto the misunderstanding,

but I would love to have been a flag on the wall in that restaurant.

I like to imagine that David is still friends with him to this day.

I would imagine he is, yeah, because he's a lovely fellow. Because actually, it's a nice story that, because it's like, perhaps David, so what?

Perhaps David didn't fucking know that he didn't care whether he was a footballer or not.

Maybe he knew from the off.

Yeah.

Because if he did, he would have asked.
