The So I grew up in the Lutheran Church, and for those that might not be too familiar with the Lutheran faith, it was started by Martin Luther, who was a priest and a theologian back in the 16th century.

He began the Protestant Reformation because he wanted to break away from the Catholic Church because of the corruption and some of the doctrine that was being taught.

Lutheranism is one of the largest branches of Protestantism. So I grew up with a mom who always

took my sister and me to church. At one point, she was even a Sunday school teacher. My grandmother

had raised my mom and my uncle in the Lutheran faith, So my mom just kept with that tradition as well.

My father was more of a Christmas and Easter kind of guy. It wasn't really his thing. He was

raised Catholic and wasn't really practicing any faith. He lived in an era where the nuns and

the priests in Catholic school would actually physically beat kids if they disobeyed in class.

So he saw a lot of hypocrisy in the church.

So that kind of turned him off as well as all the abuse scandals that have taken place over the years.

I went to a Lutheran school from kindergarten up through eighth grade and then in ninth grade I

went to a public high school. My experience growing up in the Lutheran faith was a very dry and dead experience

personally. Even though I went to church and to a Christian grade school, there was really no

emphasis placed on the fact that we were sinners in need of salvation and that we needed to repent
