Hello and welcome to another episode of the Fully Charged Plus Podcast. This is going to be a great episode. You're going to love it. It's absolutely amazing. It's absolutely full of data.

0:39.0

It's just trying to be succinct. Sometimes I get a bit waffly, I know that. Before we start there, I just want to talk about just the best company in the whole universe. Not that silly, that's a silly thing to say, but a really, really important company that are making amazing products in the UK for the UK energy market. Now, I know a lot of our listeners are spread all over the world, but the good thing is that a lot of these products have been coming available all over the world.

1:08.0

I'm talking about my energy, who are the sponsors of this podcast, and we're hugely grateful to them for supporting us to make this podcast, to talk to the amazing people we're going to be talking to you today.

1:19.0

Some of the things that my energy have done in the last few years, and just breathtaking, they've really been a huge success story. They've grown from a very small company to quite a big one, and they're growing still. They make, I'm going to hone it down to three essential products that I have in my house.

1:36.0

That I have, you know, installed and I have paid for and they're my things. And that is the Zappi Charger, which is the first thing that I came across with them.

1:47.0

The Zappi Charger is very simply an electric car charger you put on your wall inside or outside, doesn't matter where the proof.

1:54.0

And what that has essentially, I'm simplifying this right now, three settings. It has fast, which means it will just use all the energy it can to charge your cars quickly as it possibly can.

2:05.0

It can come from the grid, it can come from your solar panels, it can come from anywhere, any feed in to your house, it will use that as fast as it can.

2:13.0

It then has ECO, which I have to say I don't use, but ECO will tend to use electricity when it's at its cheapest and when it's at the least impact.

2:25.0

So it won't use the maximum amount straight away. It will charge your car over a longer period of time might take longer, but at least you're using the cheapest and cleanest electricity available.

2:36.0

The one that I use a lot is ECO plus plus, really simple. I can either set this on the actual car charger or from an app, from the My Energy app.

2:47.0

And then the car will only charge on solar and it won't take electricity from anywhere. So if it's sunny, it's putting electricity into your car.

2:57.0

If a big cloud goes across the sky and your level of solar generation really plummets, it won't charge the car. It'll stop. It'll wait till there's more sun than it will charge it.

3:08.0

What's amazing is solar panels, the amount of energy they're producing goes up and down all the time constantly, even on a very sunny day.

3:15.0

On a very sunny day, it doesn't, but if there's a bit of cloudiness, like today, there's a bit of cloud, sun's a sunshine, bit of cloud sunshine.

3:22.0

The car will charge at an amazingly low rate, so it does keep charging. I have added tens of thousands of miles range to my cars using the zappy charger and solar panels.

3:34.0

IE free fuel, just saying. The next one is the Eddy. And I forget. So the first one, I see regularly, the zappy. It's on the wall on my garage. I see it every time I go and look at the car.

3:44.0

The Eddy is hidden in a cupboard. I don't even see it. I forget Eddy's in there. So Eddy is just simply a solar-powered diverter for free water and space heating using excess energy from your PV or wind turbine.

3:55.0

So that is what it does. It's registering where the electricity is coming from, what the source is, and then it sends it to whatever is appropriate.

4:03.0

So in my house now, it is hot water and central heating. So everything is electric. So it can send excess power into my heat battery, which means I can then use that heat later on in the day when electricity is very expensive.

4:17.0

Or it can send it into the hot water. We've used it for many years now to heat our hot water. Our hot water is essentially always hot.
