My guest today has had his finger on the pulse of British men's fashion for over a decade.

From the suburbs of Fetchum to the front row of London Fashion Week,

he served as the style director for both British GQ and Asquire,

interviewing designers, reviewing catwalk shows and rubbing shoulders with the who's who

of fashion is all in a day's work. Yet, he still found the time to style

a list celebrities and consult for designer labels with a launch party hosted by Gucci,

his new book The Closet is a coming-of-age story told through 12 items of clothing

that have shaped and draped his life. In doing so, he shares snapshots of his coming out journey,

his eccentric family, and his fraught relationship with his father and alcohol.

Okay, it's nice to be here. Thank you for having me.

I'm very glad to have you here. It's quite intense, isn't it? Sort of sitting and listening,

and I actually feel increasingly nervous. Maybe we should start doing the interest before

people sit down so that it's like saying they're stressful, hearing your life sort of laid out.

Oh my god, totally. It can be quite strong.
