Summary

After a much-needed July break, I’m catching you up on everything—from the real (and sometimes complicated) privilege of being a content creator, to the weird backlash I got for taking time off, to the chaos living in my notes app all month. We’re talking Mormonism and American exceptionalism, why eating contests should be illegal, learning to trust your intuition, and one of my new all-time favorite books. It’s a little bit of everything—because that’s what this podcast is, and honestly? That’s what I missed most. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hello everyone and welcome to the Girls' Camp podcast. I'm your host, Haley Rawl, and I am so glad to be back.

You can tell Jesus that the bitch is back, baby. I am feeling so refreshed

0:25.5

about, I wrote it down. And we are going to be going through that note today, covering big things,

0:49.9

small things, Mormon religious related things, not Mormon religious related things.

0:56.1

We just have a lot to catch up on.

First things first, I want to talk about not only my break, what it was like to take a break

1:03.7

for a month from the podcast for my first time since starting the podcast, but also the idea

1:10.1

of taking a break generally, the privilege of taking a

1:13.7

break. Obviously, I was thinking a lot about this anyway as I decided to take a break and I took a

1:19.9

break. And I recently did a Sunday check-in on Instagram where people can ask me anything,

1:26.3

tell me anything. And I got this message.

1:29.4

I'm a little thrown off by your summer break, in quotes.

1:33.5

Maybe I wouldn't be if you acknowledged the immense privilege associated with taking a full

1:38.2

month off work.

1:39.3

But watching your stories connecting with motherhood, also in quotes, as though your job

1:44.1

doesn't already allow for

1:45.3

this 1,000 times more than most just off pudding. When I initially talked about taking a break

1:52.1

here on the podcast, to be honest, I very intentionally downplayed it. And I did that because
