Ted Turner, the founder of CNN, has died at the age of 87.

Turner Enterprises says he died peacefully surrounded by his family.

Turner was a titan of the cable television and media industry,

and simply put, without him, this podcast would not exist.

He was ridiculed when he started CNN in 1980.

Some called the Snaflu Plague Channel the Chicken Noodle News.

The first Gulf War, though, changed all that.

CNN was the only network reporting live from Baghdad and audiences relied on it for updates.

Turner later turned to philanthropy, starting the United Nations Foundation

and advocating for land conservation and the elimination of nuclear weapons. President Donald Trump

remembered Turner on true social this morning, calling him one of the greats of all time and said
