So my guest today is Ted Leoneses.

He is the CEO of Monumental Sports and Entertainment. You're wondering who is that.

Well, if you're in Washington, you know who it is. It's the company that is the, that owns the Washington Wizards our NBA team the Washington

capitals are n hn hn hn hn hn hnhn b a team and the monumental sports network which of

course is his the media entity that televises all of these three teams.

He was in the news over the last year because he had initially struck a deal with the

governor of Virginia, Glen Yunken, to relocate from downtown Washington

to nearby Alexandria, Virginia,

just across the Potomac River.

It may be geographically close,

but that river is a big divide these days in the

DMV at times the deal ended up falling apart and Leonesis successfully

renegotiated with the District of Columbia. We covered a lot of ground in this conversation. First, how he made

his money. He was an AOL guy. We talked a little bit about what he called the curse of Time Warner.

And it seems like any company that has touched Time Warner has run into some problems, including

AOL.

The business of sports, including his decision to take an investment from a sovereign wealth fund.

He knows I've been pretty critical of that. He took that on directly.

But at the same time, he also believed it should be very limited when you have funds like this invest.

In fact, he was critical of this movement of hedge funds becoming majority owner of sports teams.
