Hello everyone and welcome to the Girls Camp Podcast Patreon, Girls Camp Unplugged. It's me,

Haley Rawl coming at you live from my in-laws basement where we are staying because we are moved

out of our house here in Utah, but we cannot yet move into our rental in California. So we have a

little bit of a limbo time and are staying at

the in-laws. And I have so many thoughts, feelings, stories to share about the move so far.

But I'm going to save that for another time because we are gathered today to discuss the book

yesteryear. We're doing a book club episode on Carrow Claire

Burke's debut novel. This has been super buzzy, very hotly anticipated since the book and the

premise of the book was announced. From what I've gathered online, I've been listening to some podcasts, reading

reviews, watching TikToks. It seems like this is somewhat of a divisive book. There's a lot of

opinions across the board as to how people feel about this. I really loved it. And I think at the

very least, it gives us so much to talk about.

We will be discussing themes of performance, womanhood, motherhood, Christianity, influencing, and mommy vlogging, toxic masculinity.

There is a lot of themes explored here, and a lot of themes that I found very relevant as someone who

is ex-Mormon and talks about ex-Mormonism and unpacking things like the patriarchy and

gender roles, et cetera, et cetera. Because this book has some twists and turns, I'm going to keep the discussion spoiler free until the end.

So I will talk about my thoughts on the ending at the end.

The timing of me reading this novel was actually very interesting because of a little bit of a personal connection.
